Acupuncture to stimulate Labor

When women come to our hospital to induce labor, it is usually because they are already past the expected maturity. They come in because they do not want C-section or chemically induced. Chemical activation and C-sections carry their own risks, but for the purposes of this article, I will focus on the process of using acupuncture to promote labor.

Certain acupuncture points are known to have effects down effect. During pregnancy, acupuncturists know to avoid these issues, but when the due date has arrived, it’s time to start needling these points. The points that I use to help stimulate job at GB21, LI4, SP6, UB60 and UB67. Personally, I find it even more efficient to use e-stim machine between GB21 and LI4. This comes as the recession faster. If a patient is already having contractions, it is also effective to turn e-Stim during a recession is happening. GB21 and LI4 are also great items to a massage or just use the pressure points on the market.

The practice of using acupuncture to induce labor has been very successful in my clinic. The only time I’ve seen it, no other implementation work for the patient either. In other words, when acupuncture has failed to induce labor, all strategies to promote employment, including chemical stimulation, have also failed and the result was a C-section.

I was prompted to write this article after a patient comes in this last week, which was four days past its due date. Since she had the baby by C-section, her doctor was just going to let her go 7 days, before making another Caesarean. Since chemical stimulants can create much stronger contractions, women who have already had a caesarean section not allowed to be chemically induced. My patient wanted to have a natural birth this baby, and I am very glad I could help.

An interesting piece of information about the patient is when she was pregnant with their first child and try to stimulate, she used acupuncture (from another acupuncturist) to try to stimulate the work and it was not successful. She did tell me that the first time acupuncturist not use GB21 or e-stim. I think the use of E-Stim between 21 GB and LI4 is probably the most effective part of the use of acupuncture as a successful tool to help induce labor.
